Telford Tigers have announced the returns of Danny Rose and Ben Washburn for the 2021/22 season.
Rose will return to the club for his ninth season and will wear the number 12 shirt. He proved to be a key defender during the team’s double-winning season and played in every single game during the season.
He said: “I’m really excited to be back in Telford next year. After speaking with Tom (Watkins) and having had the kind of season we had previously, it made my decision extremely easy to come back and sign for Telford again. Obviously winning the double was incredible and it was just a shame the way it ended and that we didn’t get to try for the treble, but this is a new season and I’m looking forward to getting it started and pulling on a Tigers jersey again.”
Washburn began his hockey career in Telford 2005 where he developed through the junior hockey system. Starting with Telford Venom, he progressed his way through Telford Trojans and Telford Titans to then finally make his senior Tigers debut in 2014. The now 24-year old has played for the NIHL side in Telford for the past seven seasons and has made his mark every season wearing the number 40 shirt.
He commented: “It’s been a long time coming, I’m really excited to get back on the ice, get back with the lads and prove a point that Telford belongs at the top and in contention for all competitions we are involved in this year. It’s always an honour to pull on a Tigers shirt, playing for a top draw organisation, a fantastic coaching team with a first class set of lads in front of the best fans in our league.”
